Sherrie Tiessen

Sherrie’s passion for the field of immigration was ignited when, during her time as a student at the University of Waterloo, she became a volunteer at Reception House Waterloo Region. Sherrie’s educational background in Social Work and more than five years of work experience as a Settlement Worker at the K-W Multicultural Centre informs her client-centered approach.

Sherrie holds a Certificate in Immigration: Laws, Policies and Procedures from the University of British Columbia. Prior to joining WW, Sherrie worked as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) for Judith E. Phipps Barristers and Solicitors, and then Pilkington Immigration Law Firm, where she had the privilege of representing clients in a variety of immigration matters.

In the summer of 2023 Sherrie obtained an RCIC-IRB class license, allowing her to continue to pursue her passion for work at the Immigration and Refugee Board, primarily representing clients at the Immigration Appeal Division and Refugee Protection Division.
